If you're like most people, you want an organized space, but don't have the time or knowledge to create it. That's what I'm here for! I will help you work through your things and then put in organizational systems to help you remain organized. Once it’s done, you’ll wonder why it took you so long!
How does organizing save me stress?
Open space gives our eyes a place to “rest.” When there is too much clutter, our eyes don’t know where to look. This creates a state of confusion in the mind and amps up the stress response. By having everything in it's "home," your eye has a place to rest and it will be easier for you to find things instead of stressing out over lost items.
How will being organized save me money?
When your items are organized you know what you have. This avoids wasting money because you can use them instead of throwing them away – example: using food before it expires. It also avoids duplicate purchases of what you already own and prevents late fees on late bills. Bonus: many of my clients find checks and cash that were lost under piles.
How does organization save me time?
When everything has a “home,” you are able to quickly find what you need.
Why should I hire a professional organizer?
A professional organizer gives you an objective, 3 party opinion and an extra eye. Using a neutral party is especially helpful when more than one person’s items are involved in the reorganizing process and you may be too close to the situation. A professional organizer also helps you bring things into perspective to make sure the goals for the space are met.
I’m embarrassed to let anyone see how cluttered everything has become.
That's the last thing you need to be worried about! That's why you're calling anyway, right? I'm only here to help, not judge. As I've said, helping you get a grasp on clutter is a passion of mine and makes for ah-MAY-zing before and after photos.
What can I expect?
We’ll start by analyzing your space, setting its purpose and how it will best meet your needs. We'll then start by working section by section - first sorting, then purging and reinstalling the remaining items in a way that will be easy for you to maintain. I work in this manner so that you are eased into the process instead of having to immediately make decisions. My clients really enjoy working in this manner and often start getting rid of unnecessary things before I tell them to. But be prepared, things will get worse before they get better and it can be overwhelming when you’re in the middle of it. However, I walk you through everything and once it’s done you will feel SO much better and you’ll wonder what took you so long to do it!
Do I have to get rid of everything?
Absolutely not! They're your things and you can do with them as you wish. I will, however, ask you questions to help you make decisions and I guarantee that during the organizing process you will find things you no longer need. Getting rid of items you don’t need creates room for the things that you do, the life you want to live and the way you want your room to make you feel.
How long does it take?
That depends on the overall project, its initial state and how ready you are to let go of unnecessary items. It took longer than an hour for your space to get into its current condition and it will take longer than an hour to correct it. However, we always do our best to work as efficiently as possible.
Do I have to leave while you work?
Just the opposite! We’re in this together and your participation in the process is key to being able to maintain the newly organized space after we’re done.
Do I have to do everything all at once?
Sure don't! You can take on everything at once if you wish, but it can become overwhelming and counterproductive if too much is taken on at once. We work through each of your projects in a systematic manner so that you will remain comfortable through the entire process.
Do I have to buy a bunch of extra stuff?
Only if you want to. We will use as much of what you already own first before making suggestions of what to purchase. We also love to put creative new uses to old things so you may have something already that can be repurposed into something great! (I once saw a vintage TV set transformed into a liquor cabinet. I dig on that kind of creativity. Let me know if you're game for it!)
How much does it cost?
I believe that this is an important service to your well-being and make it as budget friendly as possible. I work on an hourly basis, which is paid for by check at the end of every session. Some clients bring me in for long stretches of time, others once a week and others once a month. I work with your budget and ability to do your "homework" and keep up our progress in the times apart.
